A Quick Hello!

(1) A drawing I made for my younger brother.

(2) One of three felted wool balls that work really well as clothes softeners in the dryer! You can also do away with dryer sheets with fabric pouches filled with dried herbs.

Mushroom Dyes

Last December I took a class on how to extract color to dye fiber from mushrooms – it was incredible! The colors of this little knitted mountain man above were entirely procured from fungi.

If you come across the opportunity to take a class with Alissa Allen, GO FOR IT. She is a wonderful teacher, and is so so sweet.  Unfortunately, our terrible drought situation hasn't encouraged fungi to sprout. Of course, my concerns about the drought don't have anything to do with mushroom dyeing.
I've updated my blog layout again; what do you think?
I also opened an Instagram account, and it's only filled with photos of Moses! Isn't he adorable?

Have a great weekend!

What’re your weekend plans?

We’re headed on a road trip to a beach town for friends’ birthdays, yes, multiple birthday fun! I wanted to share some recent screenshots I took of a movie dear to me, Kiki’s Delivery Service. This movie always cheers me up, and I especially love to watch it when I’m sick.
When I grow up, I want to be a witch, but more like Kiki's mom!

Happy Lunar New Year!

If you celebrate this holiday with family and friends, I hope you had a good party. I was told -- from two reputable sources -- that if it’s the year of your zodiac animal, then you’re unfortunately going to have a rough year! So, for all you horses out there, I wish you good luck!

I haven't touched my watercolors in a while and when I painted the horse, I felt sooo happy as if I were hanging out with an old friend.

Hooray 2014!

Happy 2014 to you all!

What did you all do for New Year’s Eve?

We lounged about our home late into the night. Moses in the photo above encompasses how we feel after these holiday festivities. Parties are exhausting. :)
